THE BARN DANCERS YOUTH GROUP The BARN DANCERS YOUTH GROUP meets every Saturday morning at 10:00 - 11:30 at THE BARN at 3820 Minton Road, Melbourne.

Membership in THE BARN DANCERS YOUTH GROUP requires that you be in school. We encourage those younger than school age to attend. We have ages from 4 to 18 in the group. We require all youth 12 and under are accompanied by an adult.

The BARN offers a free 10-week square dance course to the general public. There is absolutely no cost or obligation to take this course. This course will teach you how to square dance. This course starts every 10 weeks with the next course scheduled to begin on July 18th, 2000 at 7:00 - 8:30 PM. To register simply call 722-1664 and speak with Otis or Linda Lutz. Families are invited to attend.

THE BARN encourages family participation at its dances and lessons. During the Saturday morning lessons adults will be used as required to complete a square.

In order to help families that have multiple members in the group, corporate sponsors have been obtained to help defray the minimal expense of being in the group. The official outfit is denim pants for the boys and a special denim skirt with panels for the girls. There is no charge for the girls skirts as the girls "check out" their skirts for the demonstrations. A BARN Tee Shirt is worn by all members and is purchased for $10.00.

Our trip to the Florida State Square and Round Dance Convention in Lakeland, Florida was a complete success. We took 19 dancers from the Youth Club and all had a great time. Many good compliments were expressed to the dancers both at the convention and in the press releases following the event. As a result of all the favorable press the Youth Group was invited to the National Convention in Baltimore, MD and to the National Convention in California. We arfe looking into the feasibility of attending the California convention. We have also been invited to perform at MESA Park in Fellsmere. We will be attending this function on July 1st. Come and watch our performance.

With the classes now ongoing at THE BARN, we expect to have five squares (40 members) in the Youth Club by the end of July. Come join us, we are having a lot of fun and have many trips and parties planned.
